This five-track instrumental EP was in my inbox this morning from ForTheDMVOnly runner and producer Judah. Trips to California, crafted between 2000 and 2005, takes listeners through a Dre-like journey through The Golden State. Utilizing audio clips from the L.A. Riots, Boyz n the Hood, and more, Judah gives us another look at an area which was pivotal for the growth of hip-hop and the growth of many men in the 1980s and 1990s. It plays, for me, as the perfect companion piece, to Dr. Dre’s Compton album, even though Judah is, as mentioned, an East Coast producer. Check it out at the link provided.
