I’m a sucker for instrumental hip-hop albums (shameless plug, by the way). Donuts still remains one of my favorite albums of all-time. So, when I got this project in my inbox (h/t Eli Saf), I loaded it up. Each one of the five tracks on the project, they’ve a different feel. While they all follow, in some ways, 2010’s hip-hop trends, each instrumental manages to expel a different approach, potentially because of the multi-layered approach Mike $antana took with this project. However, each track never feels like overkill–something which hinders many multi-layered beats.
