Chicago transplant Vinnie Dewayne decided to, before he permanently relocated to the Chi, drop an EP with Portland producer TROX about, well, the dualities of life (just like another one of my favorites of the year, Lee Mitty’s Any Day Now). Dualities in life are always a great point to speak on and grow through musically. I’m a big fan of the track “Sleep Paralysis,” as it fully captures the duality Vinnie may experience on a daily basis, battling devils while praying for angels. Production-wise, TROX and the rest of Vinnie’s team on this project give us a solid mix of sounds and styles, going from the sleepy boombap of “Sleep Paralysis” to the creeping “Parasites.” Check out the project below.
