I can’t really speak much on the origin of the collaboration between D-Gut and K1NG ELJAY; I’ll leave that to you to read on Joe Hova’s site. But what I do know is this: the nostalgia gods shone brightly on this one. From the feel-good energy, to the iPod-esque imagery, down to the sample used (Funkadelic’s “Not Just Knee Deep,” which also was utilized for “Me, Myself and I” from De La Soul), this one rocks out with no shame. If you’re in the mood for some throwback vibes that also display some pretty dope wordplay as well, “No One’s Watching” is a good choice.
