First of all, I’m mad that I missed out on Second Page when it first dropped. K1NG ELJAY always drops some dope lyricism and I was fiending for some bars in December 2017. Nevertheless, if you’re in the mood for bars and self-relating material, check out the project. Better yet, here’s the Bandcamp link. I mean, Spotify streams are dope, but Bandcamp makes sure you get 100% of your profits and it’s not just fractions of fractions of pennies, either–even if the project is a “name your own price” release. With that shameless plug(?) out of the way, let’s talk “Cheers.”

The intro to Second Page, “Cheers” starts off with ELJAY talking about his distrust of LabCorp and how it relates to the Resident Evil series. The laughs are put on the backburner as soon as ELJAY starts spitting. During the onslaught of bars, we get multis out the ass and lyrics that sting as much as they may make you chuckle at the cleverness. In other words, if you’re a “rap nerd,” and I don’t mean that pejoratively, this is a dream song. If you’re not, it’s still a dope piece of work and the editing is so damned crisp. Check it (and Second Page) out and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
