Friday saw the release of Cardi B’s official first album, Invasion of Privacy, and truth be told? It’s a good-ass album. It has a lot of energy that feels straight 90s “femcee” rap while still maintaining the edge and comedic moments that’ve made Cardi B one of the artists people love to watch/love to hate these days. I rocked with it and rocked with it well.

However, one track that caught my ears immediately was Cardi’s collaboration with Chance The Rapper, “Best Life.” The Allen Ritter/Boi-1da-produced track is raw. It’s real. Plus, it’s catchy as hell (thanks Chance for the chorus) and it features something that always makes me giddy about new music: bars. Cardi is definitely in her bag on this one and showcases a further evolution from her first of two Gangsta Bitch Music projects. Those who were hoping Cardi would fall off after “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi” are probably going to be sorely mistaken with this track and this album as a whole. Cardi B seems to be planting her flag and seems to be in this for the long haul.
