Fly Anakin’s “Sean Price” seemingly channels the late legend in order to perform a lyrical exorcism to all the wackness we get fed on a weekly basis. In a word, it’s dope. In a few more words, it’s a hard-hitting lyrical exercise that doesn’t loosen its grip on your eardrums and mind. It’s distinctly grounded in lyrical rap, but doesn’t beat you over the head with how much nicer Anakin is than your average rapper.
Over a sparsely-produced beat, Anakin attacks the beat and presents his story for people to absorb and talk about. He’s “separating the men from mice” while standing tall like Shawn Kemp, which for me means he’s above your average artist while also realizing that there are both rats out to get him and people who aren’t on his level–either lyrically or mentally. It’s a pretty incredible track, one that made me want to check out more from the lyricist. Check out the visuals for “Sean Price” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
