What took ahold of me on Krissy’s “My Queen” was her vocals. She has a powerful but distinct voice, one that goes well with the alternative R&B vibes of the song. Lyrically, she just wants her partner to be reciprocal in their relationship, which is a simple enough plea. What makes it a bit deeper is that she chooses to allude to Romeo and Juliet throughout the song, saying that it’s fate for she and her partner to be together–as long as he treats her well and keeps doing positive things with and for her.
I liked the song and the production because it’s poppy but also contemporary. The instrumental sets the mood, while Krissy delivers on the lyric side of things. Check out “My Queen” above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
