So, the elevator pitch for this one went something as follows: “Give the stress and chaos of the world opening up again (and closing down) the finger.” I can’t really think of a better way to describe this one because it manages to capture the stress and happiness surrounding the world opening back up in one two-and-a-half minute song. Dutch producer MARTH linked up with Toeknee Tee for “Hot Like Sun.”
The energetic bounce on the beat combines well with the Southern rap stylings of Tee. I like the fact that Toeknee kind of reminds me of Del the Funky Homosapien with a bit more Southern swagger about him. He’s energetic, but also a talented wordsmith. The beat is the star of the show as it sets up the lyrics Toeknee’s putting down. It’s abstract and diverse in its stylings while still just being a bop overall. The visuals are also pretty on-point, as they’re reminiscent of that scene from Reservoir Dogs. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
