Above, we’ve got the latest from R&B songstress Kissie Lee, a powerful track called “Crown.” I say it’s powerful because, while it’s a bit playful and boastful, it’s also very empowering. I like the throwback production, as it reminds me of a Keri Hilson or early 2010s Beyoncé song. Seeing that both of those artists made their mark with anthems for womanhood and queendom, I feel that that’s an apt comparison. Kissie Lee wants her fellow queens to realize that they are deserving of all of their flowers and crowns, regardless of what a hater or naysayer says. I’m definitely a proponent of that sort of energy.
This one appears on Lee’s Kiss n Tell Vol. 1 EP, a collection of similar songs in energy, even if all of the songs aren’t empowerment anthems. In fact, the project flows effortlessly from anthems to ballads and back to turnt-up energy. I’d check it out if you like “Crown.” So check out the song and support dope music in all its forms.
