JOWY Presents “New Ex”

So this one is a bit different than what I’m typically inclined to post on the site. However, JOWY’s oversharing endeared itself to me. The “bipolar Filipino from the Bay…who loves to thread the needle between good storytelling and oversharing” hit my line with “New Ex” and detailed it for me. He said that it covers everything from situationships to attachment theory to generational trauma and “nice guy syndrome.”

Let me tell you something, brother. This one covers all these topics in an upbeat sort of way, somewhat reminiscent of OutKast’s “Hey Ya.” Both songs are danceable and upbeat–until you actually listen to the lyrics. Like “Hey Ya,” “New Ex” is a darker-than-it-seems song that endears itself to listeners because it’s bouncy and upbeat. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
