Above, we’ve got a revival of Chicago group Attack the Sound’s sexy “People Make Love.” The perfect song for this post-Valentine’s weekend, “People Make Love” has no qualms about what it is. Instead, the group revels and basks in the fact that it’s sensual and sexual without being overly crass. Anyone who’s followed music for a while knows that that is a delicate balance to master without sounding too cheesy (or, inversely, too horny).
I like this one because of that, but also because it’s just a bop. Even if the song wasn’t as sensual, the vibes and the melodies have that sort of feel good energy to them that can’t be denied. Then, the ending rap? JoelQ’s verse was dope in a good way. But it’s more than that. It also takes me back to the days where you’d have some smooth R&B funkdafied by a hot sixteen. If you’re looking for something to play in front of your sweetie in hopes of things getting a little NSFW, you can’t do much better than a group who loves love as much as it loves music.
Check out the track above and remember to do the thing: support dope music in all its forms.
