On the Funky “Cookin’,” Cam Be and Peter Jericho Show that Veganism Can Be Sexy

The song “Cookin'” is sexy and smooth, kind of like a DRDD-era KRIT song with a vegan twist. The lyrics are sensual, but the video presents a tasty recipe for vegan Salisbury Steak and cornbread. Add the recipe in with the visuals and you’ve got a pointed statement: veganism and eating clean is sexy.

Heck, I love my meat, but I can be swayed.

I mean, if all vegan food looked as scrumptious as it does in this video, I’d consider switching over because this looks like that soul food your grandma used to make on Sunday afternoons. The video isn’t just sensual or sexy, either. It also serves to promote the mission of activist Starlotta Milan, whose work in the Chicago area (and beyond) has been beneficial for all those involved–especially those who live in food deserts. I’m here for this sort of visual component, especially if it’s attached to a song like “Cookin’.”
