The Last Maven states, in his pitch for “Holdin’ On,” that “sometimes, we love people who don’t love us back.” Telling this story of one-sided love, the duo here hit a vibe similar to Common meets Rapsody and Dilla beats with a Dwele hook. In other words, it’s a track that’ll make you listen and take in its message–while still making you want to seek a reciprocated love if you’re in a one-sided love. I’ve been there. Thankfully, my situation now is reciprocal love and an unconditional one. It’s great to have that for yourself, especially if you have dealt with one-sided, conditional loves in the past.
