Nadav Lavie Presents “Streets of Paris”

Nadav Lavie is an Israeli-born artist who resides in the US. He’s also well-versed in jazz, which brings us to “Streets of Paris.” This one grabs you from the moment the bars start spilling out. Over Lavie’s Prince-like production, a nameless rapper spits bars about life and trying to enjoy it in the face of the world. The unknown artist and her producer came together while “making lasagna and drinking wine” for this one, which also explains the free verse feel of the rapped verse.

The “hey, let’s make a song about XYZ” approach here works well. That’s because of the chemistry between Lavie and his unknown counterpart. She flows and floats over the jazz rap-like beat while horns and other instruments provide her with a canvas to work with. The song takes the idea of enjoying life, as mentioned above, and spits out a love for new experiences and old acquaintances. Long story short, its quick turnaround makes this both interesting and impressive. I like this one and I think many of you will as well (even if the song is definitely on the shorter side).
