Quick, someone tell me what happens when you mix Megan thee Stallion with a dash of Rico Nasty, some boombap and some cloud rap sensibilities? Wait, I’m not done. Then, what happens if you spread out that combo over six completely different beats? Truthfully, I never quite knew the answer to this, either. That’s mainly because I never came across something like this. It’s somewhat of a rap unicorn to find someone who has a bit to appeal to absolutely everyone. Until today, that is, when artist SNW hit my line with her latest EP, SNW Reload. When I say it’s diverse AF, it’s truly diverse AF.
You’ve basically got something for everyone here. The hotties, the city girls/boys, the sadbois/sadgurls, the rappity-rap-a** fans, those who listen solely for inventive wordplay and beats, etc. The EP is a short one, as it clocks in at under 11 minutes. Y’all know me. Usually, that’s a death note (not that type of Death Note) and I’d pass on it. However, the catchy lyricalness of the tracks? They grabbed ahold of my ears and didn’t let go until the end. I was, quite literally, like Martin Payne when he’d be talking about boinking Gina in that one scene where he’s like “grab my ears.” That was me throughout this EP, except I was the one receiving (musical) love and (sonic) pleasure.
Are you not interested? Well, that sucks but don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I’m a fan of dope music in all its forms, unless it’s super-duper mainstream. Then? I will probably like it in my personal life, but wouldn’t really write about it here (since I know a chunk of my audience is RAP rap fans). But, if this description has you a little curious, check out the EP above and do like I do: support dope music in all its forms.
