Trag Blakk’s “Moment” feels and sounds like what would’ve/should’ve happened if Big KRIT and Nip actually had the chance to work extensively with each other. At least, that how I’m looking at it. The song’s got a soulful sample mixed with thumping drums too. To further the dream comparison, there’s lyrical artistry that features conscious lyrics. Along with those, we get reflections on one’s own mortality in a world where, in one way or another, we have targets on our backs.
Trag’s flows remind me more of Nip than KRIT, but the content feels like both of them, as it’s got a bite but it’s also got a calmness (like Nip and KRIT exude). It’s a song that wants you to realize that, even though we all die someday, we truly should live our lives to their fullest and act as if today is your last day. Now, that doesn’t mean go f*** up everything. For me, the message means “just spend the time you need doing what you have to do to further complete your journey, as tomorrow’s never promised.” We need that in rap as well as life in general. It’s like J. Cole said on “All My Life.”
“These days seems rappers be dyin’/Way before they even gettin’ they shine.”
