First of all, I love this one because it reminds me of a mix between 50’s gritty sing-song vocals on the hook and early-2000s bars mixed in with an almost timeless beat. In other words, it’s a hard-ass song that’ll have you making the screwface throughout. Lex’s bars are, as always, top notch and his flow here? It brings to mind a veteran schooling the young’uns on how to handle their own business and how to handle what they’re going to put out into the world.
Lex, as pointed out throughout the song, isn’t here for the BS. Either you come correct and stay grinding or you’ve got to GTFO his face. It’s a simple premise, but one that’s flawlessly executed because of the grit displayed in the song’s lyrics and vocals. I’m here for that sort of energy, as it’s not overly done in terms of polishing but still feels complete. And the beat? Produced by German beatsmith Jagger, the beat is menacing but will still make you bob your head along with it. If you need some of that “real street ish” that’s still educational and not glamourizing that life while also hitting you in the face of some syrupy, dense southern hip-hop (minus the actual syrup)? This one’s for you. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
