SØ and Typical DiV Present “Let It Run” and “IDK How It Happened”

A mix between Nas and Nipsey Hussle, “Let It Run” features on the beat and DiV on the verses. I love how much this one, beat-wise and lyrically, draws from the old school vibes while also making/keeping things contemporary with the subject matter and flow. “Run” is a song that features DiV speaking on his past, his present and his future–and how he’s not done going further than even he thought. DiV does this all while spitting relatable rhymes about life, how “life be lifing” sometimes and how DiV keeps going–in the face of BS, doubters and his environment’s influence on him from the past.

The production, as mentioned, is something to love and is also top-notch. That’s because it sounds like a mix of boombap and West Coast conscious street rap. Again, the best comparison I can come up with for this one is “imagine if Nas and Nip did a song together in 2023.” This is the 5th collaboration between the artists in question and it made me want to go back and find some of the other releases the duo’s put out.

One example of their collaborative efforts is “IDK How It Happened” (below). This one blends 2020s hip-hop lyrics and beats with lyricism steeped in the OGs’ influences. “IDK” reminds me of a mix between KRIT and Drake. These “out-of-left-field” blends help create a very distinct sound for the duo.

If you’re intrigued by these two, check out their other collaborative efforts and support dope music in all its forms.
