Ayaye Sings for His Daughter on “With You”

I love making music for my children. I don’t know if they’ve ever heard an SOTB album in full. JoJo has, at least, heard songs because his camp counselors and such have heard of me. Nevertheless, there’s something fulfilling about making songs about how awesome they are and how lucky I am to be their father. On “With You,” singer/songwriter Ayaye makes a lovely song for his daughter and also shows some of that same sort of pride in being a father.

Sonically, the sound feels a bit like a serpentwithfeet or a Frank Ocean mixed with Amine sort of vibe. It’s a relatively stripped-down instrumental bolstered and boosted by the poignant lyrics and Ayaye’s lovely vocals. Its metaphors and visually-captivating narrative provides listeners with a look into what a father will do for his children. If you’re a parent (mom or dad), you’ve got to respect the message here. Even if you have no children, it’s one that’ll leave you a bit misty-eyed. Check out the song below and support dope music in all its forms.
