Similar to the Nip and Hov track of a similar name, Droog and Blu’s “WhatItFeelsLike” is a conscious track that also doubles as a boast-heavy anthem. Unlike the Nipsey track, however, this one has more of a throwback boombap sort of feel to the beat–which helps it stand out artistically and sonically. I’ve sat on this one for a minute (again, these last few months have been chaotic AF). But it’s still a track people need in their earholes. Blu’s bars are as crisp as ever, Droog gives an incredibly intricate verse and the beat is the chef’s kiss to the whole enchilada (I’ve randomly heard “Tell Me What You Want,” the Mase song, an ungodly amount of times these last few weeks). What I really loved about this one is the intricacies that went into the beat and the bars. The whole thing is a masterclass in “let’s open our minds and ears while we try to elevate ourselves and those around us.” Check out the lyrical exercise below and support dope music in all its forms.
