Shane the True and Sage English Present “Sunday”

On “Sunday,” artists Shane the True and Sage English create a vibe unlike many others. That’s to say, their approach to a traditional love song finds the duo comparing those beautiful moments with your lover to a Sunday morning. And, like The Commodores’ classic song, things are easy like that last day of the weekend. Sonically and thematically, the song reminds me a bit of a mix between Kota the Friend and J. Cole with a dash of 2000s Drake (not a bad comparison, music-wise). That’s especially because the whole thing is uplifting while still being the type of song you’ll bob your head along to. I also love the production here, as it’s equally chill-but-energetic. It complements the lyrics spat over said beat, as “Sunday” is lyrically sound while also uplifting–invigorating, even.
