The week’s posts have been about tracks that promote living one’s best life, something that I’ve been trying to do myself. It’s important to take time to celebrate wins and, if needed, lick your wounds after a loss but not letting it keep you down. There’s also a time and place for reminiscing and remembering the past. That’s especially if there are positive moments there as well. Chase Woods’ “Carhartt Jacket,” from his recently-released EP, is the type of song that speaks on that sort of vibe, that sort of energy.
Named after a really nice, comfy jacket, “Carhartt” is one of those cuts that takes you back to a memorable time, allowing you to relive a moment while also preparing for the future. The instrumentation on the song is a mix of house-influenced drums and melodies while also incorporating quite a few hip-hop elements as well. The result is a track that’ll get caught in your head.
The New Zealander, to me, keeps cranking out relatable content and songs that make you feel. You can’t really ask for much more from an artist who gives their truth. If you’ve yet to hear this one, check out its parent project below and support dope music in all its forms.
