Tina Carzon Presents “dose”

I think the best way to describe what you’re getting from the above song, “dose,” is that it’s a mix between Sade, early Erykah Badu and Jhene Aiko. It exists in an alternative R&B-meets-jazz R&B-meets-neo-soul sort of space. It’s familiar, while fresh, vibrant and new. She sounds as if she’s ready for more, but also hesitant to give herself to another (as all of us are). It’s also got a bit of “I also have to do better because love can be a bit addictive and unpredictable.” Put all of this together, and you’ve got what makes “it “dose” special to me.

Released as a part of Carzon’s recent EP of the same name, “dose” serves as that project’s end song. When you hear how the EP goes through the stages of love as well as provides a bit of insight into Carzon, the name fits. She still has some trepidations about love and revealing all of herself, but she’s open to giving it a try, piece by piece. It’s a very interesting piece, the song and the EP proper. If you want to know more about an engaging artist, I recommend checking this one out then the dose EP. If you can love the end, you can love the beginning (which also seems to be a bit of a theme in the lyrics). Check it out above and support dope music in all its forms.
