JTreece and The Terri Green Project Cover “Close the Door”

I love old soul. I love when someone comes in, covers an older song, and makes it their own thing while still paying homage to the original. I also, as one of the most “duh” things about me, love when the DMV comes together. I say that because DC native Terri Green and Baltimore-based artist JTreece are here with a unique version of a classic. Their version of “Close the Door” is smooth, jazzy and even a bit more playful than most covers’ moods. I think that the playfulness enhances this cover, as it lets the lyrics have a bit more fun than a traditional cover where someone sang it exactly like Teddy did.

Man, this is good stuff.

Terri Green has been on my radar for a while now (a lot of 2023). This one, initially released in June, is another example of her range and swagger she has when performing. Green’s vocals will make you think of artists like Lalah Hathaway. There’s a richness to her that you don’t get from some of the newer new-school artists. Check out the song above and rememeber to support dope music in all its forms.
