Nardo P Reminisces About “The Good’Ole Days”

Before this year, I wasn’t that familiar with who Nardo P was. That’s the case with quite a few SOTB regulars (so maybe one day you can, too, be on SOTB). The below song is what turned me onto his music. And while I’m a bit late with posting about “The Good’Ole Days” (it’s another SOTB Sabbatical Holdover), I’m still here for the party. Better late than never, they say.

I initially approved this one as just a playlist feature. It’s a solid track, but leans heavily on the old-school side of things. At that moment, I wasn’t fully looking for throwback vibes. That said, I loved the content enough that I kept it tucked away in case I changed my mind.

After a few more listens, I said “hey, let’s write about this.” Unfortunately, that was around the time my unscheduled sabbatical happened. But that’s life for you. “Good” is the story of growing up. The song is steeped in nostalgia but also realizes that some of the past wasn’t as sunny as once remembered. However, those cloudy days make you appreciate the beautiful ones–and the growth you’ve shown from then to now. On top of all that, the storytelling Nardo exhibits here? It’s freaking beautiful and top notch for sure.

Moral of the story on “The Good’Ole Days” and its journey to SOTB: listen to a song more that a few times before you decide whether you love it or just like it. I love this one and have the plays to prove it. Check it out above, check out everything else Nardo has to offer, and support dope music in all its forms.
