Kymara Sings About Love on “No Matter What They Say”

Long-distance relationships are an interesting thing. Some people say they amount to cyber penpals. I don’t agree with that–at all. In fact, long distance relationships can be more work than short-distance ones, if only because you have to keep the spark alive and live elsewhere. Kymara, in her management’s pitch to me, had this to say about her song “No Matter What They Say”:

A long distance relation is difficult, but we have found a way to stay together. When we’re together, I feel safe, hugely loved and ready to take on the world. Our relationship works, if you believe it or not: “No Matter What They Say.

I’m here for that, especially because I just love love–in all its (appropriate/not creepy/legal) forms. Produced by The Purist and mixed by Ben Kane, what sets this one off for me is Kymara’s vocals. They’re beautiful. I wish I had a better descriptor than that. Let’s see. How about “when Kymara sang here, it made me consider a long-term relationship of my own a little bit.” Then I remember that I’m kind of cool where I’m at now and keep appreciating the lovely and couple-y goodness. But hey. Any song that can make me think about pursuing a “relationship relationship” is quite impressive. I give props where props are due and they’re due for the vocals and the lyrical content of “No Matter What They Say.” Plus that instrumental? Chef’s Kiss for an already great track. It’s a beautiful song, one that’s a testament to the phrase “love knows no bounds.”
