“Sorrento” is a two-part boombap track that blends fun, braggy lyrics with introspection in a way that feels like Mac Miller meets Kendrick Lamar. It’s also a track that managed to make me post about it without being longer than 2:30-3:00. I think that also has to do with the suite song vibes we get, as there are two parts of the story presented.
Again, part one is fun, braggy and full of punchlines. Part one features NAI explaining to a hater that, among other things, said hater’s girl chose NAI on some “don’t hate the player” vibes. That said, even part one has elements of introspection as it explains several situations going on in his life. It also plays a bit like a Kendrick song in that it’s a pretty solid storytelling track. Part two is more subdued, less braggy and full of moments where NAI questions the way he goes about things within life. Without giving too much away on either half of the song, it’s something that’ll make you want to hear more from this artist. Only this is: NAI’s only song right now is “Sorrento,” so run his numbers up so we get more and can support more dope music in all its forms.
