Glou-Glou, who debuted on SOTB earlier today, is back with a brand brand new song. The perfect late summer sort of jam, “Let That Go” is also the perfect stressed-out song. After all, life is full of many minute moments. If you spend all of those moments angry or worried, you’ll never let the happy, fun moments in. This is also shown in the song’s lyrics and instrumentation. It’s always great to stay positive, even when you let yourself feel other emotions. Glou would know about positivity in the face of darkness more than a lot of us.
A first-generation American and descendant of Armenian genocide survivors, his journey to “Let That Go” is a motivating one. Living in a household where “there was little money or time for music lessons or instruments,” he taught himself to play the trumpet. After the self-taught trumpeting, Glou taught himself how to play various instruments. From there, he blossomed, even studying ethnomusicology under Kenny Burrell, a jazz guitarist. Eventually, we get to today with “Let That Go.”
Do what the song says and let go of the negatives. Feel them, but never let them consume you. Check out the song below and support dope music in all its forms.
