Honey and Blue Present “All in My Head”

A couple, both in music and in romance, Honey and Blue’s “All in My Head” is quite the tale of love at first sight and how love can make you take the biggest risks. This was first brought to life by a story Stephanie Amber, one-half of the group, heard at an airport. The story, about a pair of long-distance lovers was cute, fun and pretty powerful. I’ve never been in one, but people have to have a massive flame burning to be in a LTR. Kudos to you all.

Sonically, it reminds me of a late-2000s neo-soul-like song. I am a fan of the call and response verses, in that verse one is the woman’s side (Amber) and verse two is the man’s side (Adam Darling, the other half of the duo). I loved the visuals the group put together for this song. That’s because love can also be playful (and make you feel a bit loopy). In fact, the video shows this more often than not. After all, the story is set to the backdrop of a high school play–and the quirks that come with that. It’s doubly entertaining and cute when you know that Stephanie considers herself a “self-proclaimed theater geek.”

High School Musical homages aside, the whole thing is a throwback in the best way possible. Plus, and you all probably know this by now, I’m a sucker for a sweet guitar or sax solo. “All in My Head” features the first one courtesy of Darling at the end of the track. Add that to the fact that I love people being in love and you’ve got an SOTBMusic-ready song.
