Sometimes, you’ve got to remember that you’re stronger than you may seem. You also should keep in mind that you’re the main character in your life and you’re never a side character. Go for the top and don’t give in until you’ve achieved inner peace and happiness. On Patches Paradise and Drew The Kiiid’s “MVP,” the song’s instrumentalist/lyricist duo give us a track that’s positive and pro-“believe in yourself,” especially in the face of mental health issues popping up.
Over the last few years, things have been less than peachy. Between systemic racism, the pandemic, anti-marginalized groups rhetoric, inflation raising eggs to $10 a dozen and so on, life sometimes sucks (even if you’re happy to be alive). That can have an effect on one’s mental health. Believe me, I can most certainly attest. However, one should remember that they’re stronger than they think. You’ve got to stop and realize: “hey, God doesn’t give me more than I can handle,” if you’re a religiously-aligned person. What really sent this one over the top is how much everything blends together and works harmoniously.
Because of the musical harmony, I enjoyed everything about this song (from the instrumental to the vocalized parts). It somewhat reminds me of a pop-rap song with a healthy dose of consciousness to it. Essentially, “MVP” is so positive that one could theoretically play it in dark or light times. Plus, the outro instrumentation is a thing of multilayered beauty. Check it all out below and support dope music in all its forms.
