While a bit shorter than my usual prerequisite, “Love Me Harder” feels like a mix between The Weeknd and Dominic Fike. It takes listeners on a sonic journey that’s endgame is mutual love and respect. Featuring Swedish singer Luke Maric, the song talks about the beauty of love and what it can make you feel. “Harder” is a track that’s mainly based around that mutual love and the want/need to be loved as hard as you can take.
The instrumental goes from Pop&B-leaning (a la Swae Lee or later Justin Bieber) to having a club music breakdown on its backend. I also love the second part of the track because it seems indicative of the back and forth, sometimes frantic nature of love. It also feels harmonious like the first half, but in different ways. The way the vocals get chopped and laid down bounce into and off each other, like love does between two people who are truly on equal footing. That’s the best feeling, at least personally speaking.
