K-Riz Presents “Less Is More”

The second of two K-Riz tracks to be featured on SOTB (the other one is featured on this week’s “Quickies” playlist), “Less Is More” is essentially what it’d be like if TPAB Kendrick did a version of “The Light.” There’s an attention-grabbing comment for you. Thing is: for me, it’s completely and utterly along those lines in the best ways possible. There’re bars, there’s contemplation of love and how it should be shown, there’re moments about getting away from the craziness of our realities just to live a dream for a bit. It’s got everything you could ask for in a loverman rap with a conscious edge.

Over production from Junia-T that reminds me of Dilla on “The Light.” That’s because the beat conforms to every word said in the song, giving them added weight. Then you add in the mellow-yet-emotive vocals from IceThaOne and you’ve got yourselves one helluva love song. It makes me want to go find somebody and duck off for the rest of the week. It is my birthday week, after all. While I’m not taking girlfriend applications (not looking for one), I do love love and being in it. So, I apprecite this one.
