“Unified Frontline” starts off with emcee Ruste Juxx stating “I could never kill my brother/no matter what we goin’ through, he’s still my brother.” When I tell you that I felt that line, I’m obviously not just saying that because it sounds cool. “Unified Frontline” is one of those songs for the folks you’ve got it out the mud with, blending gritty, descriptive bars with boombap production from Preed One and scratches from DJ TMB. I love the way Ruste just slides on the beat while still punctuating his important thoughts. In other words, it’s one of those tracks that feels vintage but also right at home in 2023. Plus, we need all the “unify and revolt against The Powers That Be” tracks we can get our hands on.
Next year is an election year, after all. Everyone’s third boyfriend’s cousin’s baby daddy is going to try and pull you in their direction (which is probably wrong to a degree). What better way to say “hell no. We’re going to take your ideas and make our own way” than with boombap? I honestly don’t see one. To be fair, I’m an 80s/90s baby when it comes to my music. In other words, this type of vibe, these lyrics, this flow? Especially because they don’t sound “dated,” these are my jams. Check out the track below, put the BS aside and unite and don’t forget to suppot dope music in all its forms.
