There’s really nothing I can say about the latest track from Shreve aside “this is, as always, one f*** of a track that you need to check out if you want boisterous boombap.” What I really like about this one is the beat. Produced by Vermont beatsmith EEs-KK, “B.I.G.” has a menacing-but-groovy horn section throghout the beat. This gives a notice to listeners: take this one, cherish the bars and break your frickin’ neck bobbing to the whole thing. On top of that, the beat allows Shreve to just coast, dropping knowledge right along with his lyricall-sound raps. Like I said, I’m always a fan of Shreve, so anything he drops? If I’ve heard it, I’ll talk about it in some way. This song is slated to appear on another rapper/producer duo LP from Shreve entitled I Know How To Dig. Between what sounds like an intriguing sample on the melody, boombap-friendly drums and lyrics, and an overall swagger that can’t be beat, I’m here for this. Check out the track above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
