The Black Buddhist Presents ‘The Zen Project’

Above, we’ve got the latest from rapper The Black Buddhist, The Zen Project. I received a couple of tracks off the EP and said “lemme check this out.” I mean, anyone who gives boombap beats and a bunch of lyrics that aren’t just “lyrical miracle” raps (but actually have something going for them besides “just” the rhyme schemes). This five-song EP is full of bars, point blank. While some of the songs don’t exactly meet my “please be over 2:30” length request, I make exceptions on that “rule.” That’s especially true when the lyrics are great and the overall feel of the song grabs my attention.

Over about twelve minutes, the rhymesayer gives listeners a collection of introspective and boisterous track with a lot of punchlines as well as impressive rhyme schemes. He also showcases that rapping for fun and just because you’ve got some bars isn’t a lost art. It’s hard to choose just one track to suggest. They’re all great in their own way. So, if you’re in the mood for hip-hop with substance, check this one out and support dope music in all its forms.
