Emcee Monte Celebrates “50 Years of Hip-Hop”

Over 50 years, we’ve seen many evolutions within the hip-hop culture. For instance, we now have artists taking risks in their deliveries and energies that we wouldn’t get in 1981 or even 2003. However, one thing remains constant: the love artists feel for the culture never wavers. Chicago-based artist Emcee Monte is one of many who’s still in love with hip-hop. He does so here with his celebratory “50 Years of Hip-Hop.”

I love the sound of this one, specifically the production. I also enjoyed that Monte paid homage to many of the legends in the game–and the originators and pioneers who helped shape hip-hop. As hip-hop started out in the park, Monte’s song speaks on DJ Kool Herc, Cindy C and Grandmaster Flash, among others. Plus, the track is one that can be played around any group of hip-hop fans. If you want to continue celebrating hip-hop’s golden anniversary–and remember that hip-hop is still growing–check out the song below and support dope music in all its forms.
