Theo Tams Wonders “What If” on “Parallel Universe”

Have you ever had a dream, memes aside, about what your life may’ve been about without making various choices? I probably would’ve ended up in my same fields, but I’m blessed that things went the way they did. Some, though, may ponder how their lives would be different had they travelled more, had children younger/older, taken that one job offer, or not decided to settle down. Others still, they feel overjoyed with the way the dice have fallen on that rickety-a** craps table.

Theo Tams’ “Parallel Universe” has a bit of column A (I’m where I want to be) and a bit of column B (things may’ve been different if I didn’t end up where I am). It’s perfectly normal to dream about the what-ifs. Theo’s track is described as containing “that flirtatious energy that comes with travelling and being somewhere new, the feeling that you can be whoever you want to be when you’re out of your comfort zone.” New experiences and connection will bring the absolute best out of you. It’s how we grow, flourish, evolve and sometimes how we meet our soulmates.

“Parallel,” vocally, reminds me a bit of Sam Smith’s later tracks with a groovy edge enhanced by the production from Copenhagen-based producer Mahrow. It also sounds like a late summer trip through sound and love. The instrumental is bouncy but still slightly subdued. In other words, it’s not over the top with its flair(s) for the dramatic and ear-catching. Overall? This one, written around the time Tams began planning his wedding, is what love sounds like. More aptly put, it’s also what a chance encounter that brings about memories may sound like. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
