Amplified. Presents “No Hook”

Featured on Amplified.’s The Waiting Game Mixtape, “No Hook” is a bar-heavy boombap track that speaks on recent trends. More so, it speaks on how the newer trends often impact the young in the worst ways. For example, it speaks on the opioid epidemic and how the next generation’s, at times, too strung out to grow up.

I appreciate this one, as it feels like two OGs spitting truths to the young’uns (but not in a preachy way). There isn’t an “old man yells at cloud” feel at all. There’s more of an element of “reach one, teach one” versus “spare the rod, spoil the child.” It’s also a song that’s within its rights to air grievances. I also appreciate how Amp. and his feature Andrew Bigs run all over this track with flows, rhymes and knowledge reminiscent of Blu and other West Coast legends. If that’s not enough to get you excited, I think you’re on the wrong site. Check out “No Hook” below (as well as its parent project) and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
