This one’s a bit outside of my typical wheelhouse. However, its future pop meets alt R&B vibes could not be denied. The way yuni darts in and out over the twinkling instrumental is pretty damn cool. Plus, it also adds further dimensions to her voice, some that make her story both relatable and haunting.

“control” is partly about how the genie in a relationship can’t be put in the bottle once the magic’s gone. It’s also partly about how she’s not going to let youthful experiences keep her grounded and “drowning,” therefore taking back control. The duality there is beautiful and, as mentioned, a bit haunting. After all, some humans go through a lot to begin to reclaim themselves.
