Ev Malone Presents “Transformer”

Heavy bass plus strong wordplay makes Ev Malone’s “Transformer” a unique track. It’s boombap-esque with its beat, but also still has a lot of new-school mainstream energy as well. The bars are, as mentioned, strong–especially since Malone drops punchlines like strip club patrons drop ones. Knowing a great deal about strip clubs, I feel that this one could even get a bit of a spin in one of those establishments. Again, the bass is freakin’ crazy and the beat is engaging. On top of that, the bars have a lot of “I’m good at this rap ish” moments, but also a lot of braggy moments that lend themselves well. Plus, even if you’re not throwing ones to Ev’s song, you’ll appreciate the fact that its energy and content is lyrically sound and emotionally in-depth. The bars here are confident and flow so easily over the beat. In other words, it’s a perfect track for SOTB. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
