While this song is a bit shorter than what I’d typically write about, I couldn’t help but fall in love with Jae’s latest. “Falling for You” is a loving track about–what else–what happens when someone falls in love with someone. “Falling” finds Jae in a position where he’s seemingly been searching his whole life for this type of love. Now that he’s got it, he’s not letting it go for anything. I respect that, as love is one of those things you’ve got to hold onto for as long as you physically and mentally can (as long as the relationship serves you).
The 19-year-old New Zealander’s voice has a mix between a Post Malone type and a splash of Frank Ocean for good measure. What doesn’t seem like it’d be a winning combo is definitely one, because Jae’s voice wraps itself around the beat so well. Additionally, its harmonies are a thing of beauty and the production is mellow and chill, while still engaging. If you need something to present to your partner/partner-to-be, I recommend checking this one out and doing the SOTB special: check it out below, give Jae an ear and support dope music in all its forms.
