MF DOOM (just remember “ALL CAPS” when you spell the name) is a rappity-rap rapper’s rapper who raps for the rap purists. You knew that already. If you love complex rhymes, DOOM is your guy. However, he was also for the street guys, the nerd nerds and those who just appreciate a good sample and dope bars. Like Wu-Tang is for the children, MF DOOM was for every walk of rap life.
That said, it’s still a bit wild to me that DOOM’s been gone three years on this coming Tuesday (Halloween). It still feels relatively fresh. For me, while I was never the biggest DOOM fan, I always appreciated him as an artist. The way he put words together was top-notch. Plus, he helped me discover a lot of different producers and artists through listening to him rap with them/over their beats. Even if you’re not stanning for DOOM, you’ve got to respect him, point-blank.
Neak’s “DOOM Died WTF” is a touching-but-bar-heavy tribute to the late rhymesmith. It’s one of those tracks you kind of just need to hear. The way Neak leaves no (emotional) stone unturned when paying homage is stellar. It also, for me, serves as a song that’s a birthday card to hip-hop. The bars are fire, the beats will make you think instantly of DOOM and the stories told here help listeners understand how important DOOM was to the culture. They also aid Neak in carving his own path as an artist. If you need your bars with a purpose, I really recommend checking this one out below and supporting dope music in all its forms.
