SOTB luh the kids. I mean, I’m a father myself and really take inspiration from the youth’s energy. I also know what it’s like to be without your kids (either because of your own decisions or someone else’s brought on by your actions). In a few words, it sucks. I would never wish for a willing and able parent to be without their child; that goes for moms and dads, of course.
I don’t know PlayBoi Marley’s story, so I won’t act like I do. However, his song “Amar’e Jayce Binford (Age 1)” finds the artist getting warm and fuzzy about his young son. The track also finds Marley lamenting the loss of accessibility to his child, something I’ve seen more times than I’d like to. It helps that the song itself is incredible, from the bars to the emotionally-charged beat. However, it’s the storytelling that helps round this one out. Like shaping the mind of the young, Marley takes this track and crafts a very heartfelt open letter to his son. In it, he explains why he’s not around as much–but also doesn’t make excuses for it. Marley is blunt in his approach here and it makes the song that much better.
If you need something that’ll make you want to hug your kids, maybe create a kid or two over a track that’s very engaging, I recommend this one. I’m excited to hear what else the Macon, Georgia native has to say. For now, check this one out below, support dope music in all its forms and be a parent (if you have the chance to and you can still be around your kids, even if it’s only for a fleeting moment).
