While Teefa’s new song “Happy Birthday Hip-Hop” is very NYC-leaning, the lyrics, images and storytelling will grab even those from other regions. Taking a cue from the line “hip-hop, it started out in a park,” the artist ties together a large number of rap artists to commemorate the genre and artform. From the first bar until the end, listeners get an artist who absolutely loves the game, even with its multiple changes over the years. For me, that’s what makes this one feel very pure and distinct. Teefa doesn’t fake any type of funk, instead opting to just let us know how amazing the genre that’s saved many lives truly is. Check out the song below, support dope music in all its forms and keep in mind that rap has many, MANY different subforms.
