Elle Baez Presents “I Love My Body”

In a world where some go damn-near insane to match a warped idea of beauty, it’s still refreshing to hear someone saying “I love me just the way I am.” Elle Baez’s “I Love My Body” is body-positive in the best way possible: it’s a feel-good bop for those of us who may have a few extra pounds, those of us who aren’t the most-curvy, those of us who are smaller and so on. While the song focuses more on those who may consider getting procedures done to fit that beauty “standard,” it’s a song for all of us.

In doing this, this “love letter [to Baez’s own body]” inspires people to appreciate who they are without going to extremes. I appreciate that as a human and as a positive person. I absolutely love the fact that Baez, who’s been one of my favorite SOTB-covered artists in the SubmitHub era of SOTB, is fearless in her approach to the topic. She says “hey, I don’t need to use ozempic to lose weight. As long as I’m healthy and happy, I’m happy and healthy.” Plus, I’m always here for hearing and spreading positive messages and images. In fact, those two things are the main reason why I never leave the SOTB site/music/moniker alone for more than like a year.

Written and produced by an all-female team consisting of Baez, Josephine Omokheyeke and Tiger Darrow, “Body” will stick with you–regardless your height or weight. I’m really excited to see what Elle does in 2024 to follow up with the last few years of hits and self-love-heavy masterpieces. Check out the track below and support dope music in all its forms.
