Humanity is beautiful. It is precious. It is worth every person. But humans, we can go pretty dark pretty fast. From wars to fights to everything else in between that I’d rather not mention lest I trigger someone (possibly myself), we can f*ck around and make the worst out of something beautiful real quick. When asked about “Dark Matters,” Mr Gee said that while “humanity is capable of such great love…[we] fall down the same rabbit holes.” That’s what brings this song to life: a common desire to keep humanity from going any darker than we need to.
There have been so many things in this world that’ve colored our grounds blood red. Eventually, people have to (and will) say “enough is enough” and move past the anger, past the despair. Otherwise, we won’t make it to see it past tomorrow, much less multiple generations. I appreciate Gee’s borderline spoken word delivery on this creation, as it helps you take more inventory of his words. If you’re against war and against everything (that’s screwing over our society), check this one out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
