Will tha King Presents “My World”

Imitation is flattery, but inspiration is critical in the hip-hop world. You can sound like someone, but if you are inspired by them (and still do your own thing)? That’s where the good stuff comes out. On Will tha King’s latest track, “My World,” the journeyman rapper channels Kendrick and Cole to create a song about his life, his path and the journey one takes once they see that they’re worth more than the world tries to make them think they are. We are masters of our destiny, even when the world tries to tell us “no.”

I love Will’s flow here, plus his lyricism. The whole song reminds me of a mix between Kendrick and Curren$y with a dash of Cole’s penchant for storytelling and the wordplay of an Outkast (both Big Boi and 3K). I appreciate that, as a reviewer and as an artist. On this one, you can tell Will loves rap, loves life and wants to make sure people around him also elevate themselves. After all, it’s our world, not those who try to bring us down. If you want incredibly intricate wordplay along with inspirational lines, I recommend checking this one out below and supporting dope music in all its forms.
