Danny Copeland has been one of the surprises on SOTB the last six months. His praiseworthy praise music came at the best time for me. I had the worst go at it all before reaching epiphanies and eventually hearing his music over the last few weeks. For more about this, check out my review of his song “Pressure.” Danny’s thankfully putting constant and continued “pressure” on the devil’s neck with songs like “I Need You”
On this song, Copeland takes on an acoustic sound to speak to God and thank God for being there when things got to their worst. Aiming to make sure others realize their need for the Most High, Copeland also utilizes rap and R&B-like vocals to get his message across to listeners. I love that Danny isn’t afraid to showcase how much he needs God in his life. That’s a bit of humility and honesty many of us could benefit from. I was once like that, trying to claim my wins were mine and mine alone. And then, honestly? I lost a lot of what I’d built up. At my lowest, I found that God was my only constant and comfort, even though I’m not in the church like some may be. That said, I appreciate this type of song.
Check it out below, remember to give God the glory and support dope music in all its forms.
