Already Legends Make Some “New Waves” on Latest Track

Already Legends, a Detroit group featuring artists SavageSpitFlamez, Sam Tate, Squad and LOE Boog on bars and billy winters behind the boards, reminds me a lot of early DAR. That’s to say that the quartet have four different sounds and flows. On today’s track, “New Waves,” everything meshes and blends to float over jazzy, self-produced alt-rap beats. The point of this track is simple: they want you to know why they’re here in the game and what they plan to accomplish. They want to showcase their different styles while also showing unity. Hence, the early DAR comparisons come up for me. You’ve got a more-melodic rap flow, a “BARS”-type of flow, something that sounds off-kilter at first glance but rides the beat incredibly well. They also opt to just keep the track bar-heavy without any sort of gimmicks attached–kind of like True, Ax, Apollo and I did back in the early 2010s.

The whole thing made my ears perk up and take notice of the craftsmanship that went into creating this song. Listeners can tell this one wasn’t just thrown together and wrapped up with dollar store Scotch Tape, In fact, everything about it feels effortless but you immediately sense the work that went into each bar, each verse. I think I’ve gushed about “New Waves,” its flow, its beat and its bars enough. Check it out for yourself and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
